As required by the Subjects Guide of the Course of Studies the student needs to have obtained “pass” in the exam of Paediatric Dentistry 1, and have passed the exams of the 4th year.
At the end of the course the student has to take a written exam. The candidate will be examined on the topics regarding the syllabus of the course and will have to obtain “pass”.
The aim of the course is to teach students how to treat the major oral pathologies typical of childhood and adolescence. This field encompasses all those issues that characterize the disorders of the teeth development and occlusion, the conditions affecting the periodontium, pain management, any necessary dental procedures, the treatment of children suffering from systemic diseases or handicap. At the end of the course the student will have gained the clinical criteria for the diagnosis and treatment of odontostomatological diseases.
- Anaestesia in children
- Dental materials (deciduous and permanent dentition)
- Endodontic therapy in primary teeth
- Treatment of the permanent immature apex teeth
- Traumatology- interceptive therapy- paediatric oral surgery- drug therapy in Paediatric Dentistry- paediatric oral pathology- systemic diseases and odontostomatological complications- the child with special needs- medical legal aspects in paediatric dentistry.
The slides used during the lessons will be available to the students at the end of the course.

Ministry guide-lines
The course consists of standard frontal lessons for a total of 50 hours. The lectures are scheduled and their timetable can be consulted on the website of the Course of Studies. Slides are used by the teacher as a didattic support.
