At the end of the course the student has to take a written exam. The candidate will be examined on the topics related to the syllabus of the course and will have to obtain “pass”.

The course is designed to give dental students a sound grounding of Odontostomatology in the developmental age. Great emphasis is laid especially on those issues essential to acquire a thorough knowledge of the right approach to the little patient (including the management of the child’s behaviour) , of physiopathology, of the preventive aspects regarding the dento-maxillofacial region, , of the various pathologies affecting the stomatognathic system during childhood and adolescence (primary teeth disorders, permanent teeth and immature permanent teeth, the periodontium, mucosae, bony structures, alterations during exfoliation and dento-skeletal abnormalities linked to oral habits in deciduous and mixed dentition).
At the end of the course the student will have gained the theoretical knowledge necessary for the diagnosis of the odonstomatological pathologies in paediatric patients.

- Odontostomatologial prevention: oral hygiene and nutrition
- Fluoride: action, medication, undesired effects

The slides used during the lessons will be available to the students at the end of the course.

The course consists of standard frontal lessons for a total of 50 hours. The lectures are scheduled and their timetable can be consulted on the website of the Course of Studies. Slides are used by the teacher as a didattic support.
