The aim of the 3rd year internship is to complete the acquisition of the professional skills needed for general nursing care. Particularly, at the end of the 3rd year internship the student will be able to:
1. Recognize the professional contribution within the health care team comparing with the different role models.
2. Establish a professional relationship, respecting the principles and values in critical situations and chronic illness. In particular, referring to the deontological concepts of accountability, advocacy, caring and cooperation.
3. Identify opportunities to promote people's health and well-being. Ensuring patient safety and promoting autonomy.
4. Identify possible topics of nursing research.
5. Apply critical thinking skills and nursing decision-making process in clinical situations of medium/high complexity.
6. Carry out the nursing process by making the assessment, identifying the most frequent nursing diagnoses in critical situation, in different stage of life, and in chronic conditions.
7. Implement nursing interventions according to guidelines and protocols, questioning about their possible updating through the consultation of best references.
8. Recognize the situations that require taking care of people with chronic diseases.
9. Give information, within the healthcare team, reporting the assessment, nursing diagnoses, outcomes and interventions in health records with the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®) and the theoretical references of the Care Model of Human Processes (MAPU).
10. Contribute in clinical risk management and maintaining patient safety.
11. Recognize and respect the different levels of responsibility and the competences of health and technical personnel.
12. Ensure privacy and confidentiality of health and care information.

During the internship the student will experience the contents of the Nursing courses of the first, second, and the third year of the degree (MED 45), referring particularly to MAPU and ICNP®.
