Requirements: 

Manual Therapy
Anatomy, biomechanics, physiology of exercise are needed to understand the topics discussed in the course. There are no constraints on propedeuticity.

Manual Therapy of the spine
There are no prerequisites required

No specific scientific or technical knowledge is required other than those provided by any high
school. The similar teachings of the previous two years will provide the students with a
conceptual heritage useful to address the themes proposed in the course.

Terapia Manuale
The exam will take place in writing, with questions formulated to verify the expected learning outcomes. The final vote will be determined by the degree of acquisition of the knowledge and skills expected, taking into account also the ability of synthesis and analysis; mastery of scientific language and clinical reasoning skills. To pass the exam, the student must have a minimum of 18 (eighteen) votes.

Manual Therapy
The main objective of the course is to acquire knowledge about soft tissues injury mechanisms, their healing processes and treatment, and the instruments used to measure outcomes.
Particular attention will also be given to the mechanisms that generate musculoskeletal pain and its management in tendon and muscular pathologies from a evidence-based point of view. Where necessary, the concepts will be integrated with basic concepts regarding the construction of a therapeutic exercise program. Laboratory activities aim to deepen and complete the theoretical lessons, making students familiar with the basic techniques of manual therapy. They also aim at developing teamwork skills.
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able:
- to know and differentiate the main musculoskeletal disorders; know the main manual therapy techniques principles;
- to be able to perform a thorough evaluation of a patient with musculoskeletal disorders; know how to apply the learned techniques; be able to use, where possible, appropriate outcome tools;
- to acquire cross-competences such as communicative skills, autonomy in clinical reasoning, synthesis skills, and re-elaboration of information and knowledge coming from different sources.

Manual Therapy of the spine
The student will be able to:
•To learn the concepts of manual therapy for the spine
•Integrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology of biomechanics with clinical practice
•Perform an examination, consider the contributing factors and establish a diagnosis by clinical reasoning for patients with pain of the spine.
•Develop and instruct the patient in a diagnosis-specific treatment program and modification of life activities, which contributes to the formation of the movement impairment syndrome of lumbar dorsal and cervical spine
•Have the know how of the principal concepts of manual therapy (Mulligan, Kalterborn and Maitland
•To learn the concept of neurodynamics and to do the standard neurodynamic testing

The course aims to illustrate, by starting from the legislation regulating the professional
activities of healthcare professionals, the rehabilitation professionals' intervention contexts;
addresses aspects of ownership, professional responsibility and deontology as well as new
organizational models in the light of the application of the Clinical Government.
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:
- know how to define the term organization and the profession of intellectuals
- know the professional profile of the physiotherapist and the code of ethics
- be able to recognize the differences between the role of the collaborative physiotherapist,
coordinator and manager
- know how to define the departmental model and clinical government and identify goals and
tools

Manual Therapy
The acquisition of the various expected knowledge and skills will develop in parallel throughout the course, where the following topics will be addressed:
- Introduction to the course, manual therapy and state of art (2h)
- Pain, soft tissue injuries and their healing process (8h)
- Kinesiological and functional evaluation of the patient (history, clinical and functional tests, measurement scales) (4h)
- Rational principles of major manual handling techniques based on evidence based practice (2h)
- Practical evaluation and treatment practices through manual therapy and therapeutic exercise of musculoskeletal dysfunctions (8h)

Terapia Manuale
The objectives will be achieved through frontal lessons (16 h) and practice (10 h) for a total of 26 teaching hours (2 CFUs). Lessons are supported by slide projection. For practical activities, students will be divided into pairs for applying manual techniques, and in small groups for role-playing activities. At the request of the students, the teacher can devote the first part of each lesson to clarification and insights on the topics discussed in the previous lessons. You can also ask for clarifications on specific points during the lesson. Class attendance is strongly recommended.
