At the end of the course the student must have acquired the knowledge of the main infectious diseases in midwifery and the general principles of epidemiology and prevention of health care associated infections

Infectious diseases transmission. Viral hepatitis: HAV, HBV, HCV, HDV, HEV. HIV infection: epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and prevention. Vertically transmitted diseases: CMV, Toxoplasmosis, HSV-1, HSV-2, Rubella, HBV, HCV and HIV. Candidiasis. Travel diseases: malaria. Scabies and pediculosis. Tuberculosis. Health care associated infections. Occupational risk and prevention rules; post-exposure prophylaxis.
