Basic knowledge of anatomy of the musculoskeletal system.

The final exam will be articulated as an oral exam including the evaluation by a commission of teachers of the integrated course. The final grade will take into account the knowledge acquired, the ability to link together this knowledge, the expressive skills and the specific attitude of the student.

During the course the student will acquire the knowledge and skills in the application of techniques and biotechnologies applied to the locomotor apparatus. In particular it will acquire basic knowledge of pathology and principles of treatment of the main orthopedic and traumatological pathologies of the most common findings. Furthermore, the student will be led to acquire, in relation to the topics covered, appropriateness of language, learning and communication skills as necessary tools for understanding and transmitting the competences object of the course. These competences will allow the student to discern and therefore to apply practically, independently of judgment, what they have learned.

The course will focus on the main techniques and biotechnologies of greatest relevance in clinical practice in relation to the topics of interest of the BT graduate in the musculoskeletal system, focusing in particular on the most frequently encountered and practical relevance topics.

Overview of fractures.
History and techniques of osteosynthesis.
Physiopathology of bone healing and defect reconstruction techniques (bone transplants, bone substitutes, scaffolds, BMPs, etc.)
Degenerative joint pathology and conservative therapeutic options (cartilaginous transplants, PRP, scaffolds, Hyaluronic acid, stem and fat cells, etc.) and surgical (osteotomies and joint replacement surgery).

The course will be structured with lectures followed by a moment, at the end of each lesson, for discussion, questions and insights on the topics covered.
