At the end of the course the student must have learned the main characteristics of the different ecosystems and be able to discuss how the anthropic activities can have negative effects on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems; it will have to be able to report with concrete examples what are the main issues related to different ecosystems. It will have to master the study methods of the biotic and abiotic components of the various environmental compartments, prevention policies and regulatory instruments for better management and protection of the environment

Assessment:
Voto Finale

This course analyzes the main ecosystems on the Earth by highlighting the different interactions between organisms and their habitat.
The largest part of the biosphere is the aquatic environments and communities that populate them. The waters, in fact, cover about three-quarters of the surface of our planet. Most aquatic ecosystems consist of salt water ecosystems because almost all of the water on Earth is collected in the oceans and seas. In addition to marine ecosystems, there are transitional and freshwater ecosystems. To complete the biosphere there is a very wide variety of terrestrial ecosystems.
The course aims to provide the basic elements to understand the interactions between abiotic and biotic factors that lead to the structure of the various ecosystems existing. The basics for proper management of the different ecosystems are also provided in the light of current European standards.
