Requirements: 

- native-like written and oral knowledge of the Italian language
- a good knowledge of the main structures of the Italian language
- knowledge of German corresponding to the B1-level of the CEFR
- high motivation, ability to organize one’s own learning time

Both the written and the oral part of the German Language II exam must have been passed in order to access the German language III course.

Students will further extend their knowledge of German language and attain the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Classes are aimed to improve five abilities: oral and written comprehension, writing, speaking and oral interaction.
Upon completing the course, students will have intermediate to advanced command of German: they will be able to produce oral and written texts at a B2 level and to interact with native speakers in an advanced way.
To improve written and oral abilities, grammar and vocabulary will be granted special attention. Pronunciation will be corrected and additionally trained if needed.
Students will also learn to develop a personal learning method to make self-learning more efficient.

The course will be divided into two modules.

In the first module theoretical notions on the structure of German will be provided, granting particular attention to grammar and translation to and from Italian.

In the second module, the students will have the chance to practice and develop the five linguistic abilities; they will also receive special training to prepare for the final exam.

- Describing and interpreting a diagram or a picture
- Taking notes, identifying keywords in written and oral texts
- Summarizing written and oral texts using notes and keywords
- Understanding and writing texts containing technical language or language for special purposes
- Writing texts about one’s own feelings and opinions (continuation)
- Taking part in discussions on current topics

- Predicative and attributive adjectives (continuation)
- Pronouns (revision)
- Verbs: Konjunktiv I; revision of all tenses and moods; active and passive form (continuation and revision); special meaning of modal verbs; participles (continuation)
- Preposition requiring the genitive (continuation)

- Conjunctions (revision)
- Complex nominal and prepositional phrases (revision); nominalization and verbalization
- Complex sentences (revision)
