GASTROENTEROLOGY

The students have to learn the more relevant gastrointestinal pathologies. For each disease: pathophysiology, clinical presentation, natural history, laboratory and instrumental tests for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.
The following gastrointestinal diseases will be presented and discussed:
achalasia, hiatal hernia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, dyspepsia, gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, acute and chronic hepatitis, hyperbilirubinemia, liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension, acute and chronic pancreatytis, malabsorption syndromes, celiac disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, gastrointestinal tract cancer, liver and pancreatic cancer.
