Course description
B2 level English course held by native speaker, prof. Anthony Joseph Zambonini, expert in international certifications.
The course is optional and addressed to all PhD students who intend to attend it, but we kindly remind every PhD student that it is MANDATORY to reach at least an official B2 certificate before finishing the PhD cycle. The course aims to improve and consolidate the four skills of language learning (listening, reading, speaking, writing) and provides students with some useful strategies to face the certification exam B2 FIRST – Cambridge Assessment English, Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Besides these lessons, students can attend an online course on the MacMillan English Campus (MEC) software platform, which includes listening, reading comprehension, pronunciation and grammar exercises tailored to their level and useful to gradually reach the B2 level required for a possible certification. The platform can be accessed online at the university, at home and wherever there is an Internet connection.
Important: every PhD student of the first year can request a licence on MEC Platform.
Before carrying out the path on the MEC, a placement test will be organized, to be carried out remotely on 12th April, as per instructions that will be provided by the referent. These instructions will be sent to the doctoral students who will send their name in time to follow the course on MEC.
Enrollment
We kindly ask you to disseminate information and to inform all the PhD students who are willing to attend the English course with the professor Zambonini and/or to carry out the MEC software course.
In order to enrol to the course, you have to fill in THIS FORM no later than 9th APRIL.
If you choose to attend the MEC course, you will have to do a Placement Test on 12th APRIL.
All information will be sent by the language lab technician (dott.ssa Brusa).
Please note that the MEC course must be absolutely completed within the deadline provided (approximately by the end of August).

Class attendance
The lessons of the English course will be held in face to face at Aula 1 TM at Pavilion Morselli via O. Rossi, 9 Varese and in Como in videoconferencing with distance learning using the Teams platform (classroom V2.11) from 2.30 to 6.30 pm, according to the following schedule:
- 4, 11, 18 April
- 9, 16, 23, 30 May
- 6, 13 June
