Dear students, dear colleagues, dear administrative and technical staff,

we would like to thank each one of you for the commitment that, during this long and complicated period, has allowed our academic community to remain as united and lively as ever, despite the restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus emergency.

We stayed home but we did never stop. 85 percent of the courses are active online, 653 students have graduated remotely, about 9,000 accesses are registered on the teaching platforms every day and from April 16th it will also be possible to take the written exams remotely. All this with the precious support of our IT services and an administrative machine that works perfectly, with 82 percent of the staff working in smart working. In addition, many research activities continue and our professors are involved in special projects related to Covid19.

Each of you, each of us, with a great sense of responsibility has made available to the university its best resources to cope with the new ways of academic life, without losing the desire for dialogue and comparison that characterizes us.

Now, as we all wait for phase two of this tough battle to be more defined, we must begin to look forward with confidence and positivity. The university is the place of study, research and innovation and we have a duty, today more than ever, to give our scientific, medical and humanistic contribution to build a future that can always be better.

The next operational update will arrive around Easter, based on the decisions of the Government and the Lombardy Region. We wish you all a peaceful break in these difficult days.

The Rector Angelo Tagliabue
