Coronavirus: Notice of the Rector prof. Angelo Tagliabue, March 8th

Dear teachers and technical-administrative staff, dear students,

the Prime Minister's Decree signed on 08.03.2020 establishes new restrictive measures to deal with the sdiffusion of the Coronavirus Covid-19, measures that particularly concern Lombardy and 14 provinces of other regions of northern Italy. We give you the first useful information today and specific provisions will follow in the coming days.

The didactic and curricular activities in presence are suspended until April 3rd, 2020. Lectures and graduation sessions will take place only by telematic means, the examination committees will act from the university structures. The only exception is the graduation session of March 9th for the bachelor in Nursing, that is confirmed at the Collegio Cattaneo in Varese in compliance with the prevention and safety regulations. Exams not done in February and those needed for the graduation will be held in the means that will be communicated in the coming days.

Research and technical and administrative activities are not suspended, they continue in presence at the university structures; in particular, it is needed to guarantee the services ensuring the delivery of distance teaching activities. Motivated journeys for work needs are allowed by the Decree; therefore, it is possible for staff and teachers who have to record lectures to reach the university structures; it is advisable to have the university ID card with you and, if needed, staff will be provided with a certification showing the seat of the workplace.

The university, in line with the orientation of the Lombard universities, will evaluate the most appropriate measures for:

  • increase smart working, already active for a large number of employees and extended until April 3 for those who are already performing it;
  • encourage the use of holiday periods, in compliance with the Decree recommendation;
  • enhance the use of telematic tools for all compatible activities;
  • limit the use of services by the users only  to those strictly needed.

The university facilities remain open to authorized users, but the study rooms are closed. All public events are suspended.
